Something Special for Me

Dear Students,

         I have chosen another book by Vera B. Williams for the Book of the Month.  The title is Something Special For Me.   This is a terrific story about a girl by the name of Rosa, who had a difficult time deciding what she wanted to buy for her birthday present. Some members of Rosa’s family saved up money in a large jar and decided that the money would be used for Rosa to buy something special for herself.

          My favorite part of the story is when Rosa went into the department store and tried on the beautiful outfit. I thought she looked lovely. I wanted her to purchase everything she tried on.

          This book is special because it teaches us that some times we have to save money to buy something special and we don’t have to buy the first thing we see.  It’s important to take our time and decide on what we really want. Also, I like this book because the illustrations are great!
