May Book of the Month Three Days on a River in a Red Canoe by Vera B. Williams |

May 1, 2008 Dear Students, The Book of the Month for May is called Three Days on a River in a Red Canoe. It was written by Vera B. Williams. I chose this book because when I read it I could feel the sensation of the journey. I would love to have been with this family when they took an adventurous trip in a red canoe. I like this book because I like having fun, especially when the weather is sunny and bright. To me, there is nothing like planning a trip, anticipating the fun and excitement, being impatient about getting there and enjoying the ride. I really can not think of anything better than being in a big red canoe fishing and laughing with the people I love. My favorite part of the story is when the family decided to take a three day trip and went shopping for everything that was needed to make the trip safe and fun. They bought things like life jackets, extra paddles, rope and packages of freeze-dried chicken, some dried apricots and many other items. I also liked reading about the family’s long drive. They drove all day to get to their chosen camp site. I became excited about the fun they had on the river and their adventure in the rain. This story has prepared me for a summer vacation. I hope you have fun reading it, too. Love, Mrs. Betty Jo Jackson Teacher Activities: |
