October BOM Tatty Ratty by |

October 1, 2007 Dear Students, Tatty Ratty is the October Book of the Month. The story is delightful. It tells of Molly, a little girl, who is worried about her missing stuffed bunny that was probably left on the bus. Tatty Ratty is the bunny’s name. Molly can’t sleep without him and she worries that Tatty Ratty will be lonely. As Molly and her dad looked for the bunny, Dad whispered to Molly, “Maybe he’ll hop off.” That statement started Molly imagining all kinds of things that Tatty Ratty could be doing. While Molly and her parents continued to look for Tatty Ratty, Molly imagined the bunny driving a train, eating porridge with the three bears, biting Cinderella, sailing on a pirate ship, flying on a dinosaur and zooming to the moon. Finally, Molly was ready to go to the store for a new stuffed bunny. When Molly, Mom and Dad arrived at the store, they saw a bunny that looked like Tatty Ratty. I like this story because Molly was a great character. She loved Tatty Ratty so much that she searched everywhere for him. When she thought she had found him, she was very excited because it seemed that he had pricked up his ears, he looked lovely and white, and he had a big smile. Also, I like this book because it shows that we can have a great time using our imagination. I hope you enjoy reading Tatty Ratty and discussing it with your teacher and parents. Love, |
