The Hat

When Lisa decided to take out her woolen clothes and hang them on the line so that they could get fresh air, she never dreamed that it would start a parade of animals wearing her clothes for hats. This event started when one of Lisa’s stockings got stuck on Hedgie’s, the hedgehog, prickles. Hedgie was too embarrassed to tell the other animals that the stocking got stuck on his prickles when he became curious about it and stuck his nose in it. Subsequently, Hedgie started telling all of the other animals that he had a new hat and how protected he would be when the weather turned bad. What Hedgie did not know was that although the other animals were laughing at him, they were being convinced that they need a hat, too.

I like this book because the pictures are hilarious, the hat is delightful and the story is wonderful. One of my favorite parts of the story is watching the top panel on each page and seeing how Lisa’s clothes slowly disappeared. The other part that I like best is when Hedgie saw all of the other animals wearing hats and he stated, “How ridiculous they look! Don’t they know that animals should never wear clothes!”

Enjoy!
