REFERENCE COLLECTION

The Media Center houses a well-balanced reference collection for students, parents, and staff.  We have hundreds of print and non-print materials on all subjects related to the standards. 

ELECTRONIC CATALOG

The Destiny online catalog is searchable by author, title, and subject. It lists both print and non-print materials available in our media center. 

COBB VIRTUAL LIBRARY

Cobb Virtual Library provides accurate, up-to-date information for research needs and are available to Cobb students and staff for home and school use only. When using these resources at home a login and password will be required.  A Password List is available in the media center or it may be printed at school to take home. Please see Mrs. Vassell Mitchell to obtain the password as they will be updated periodically. Due to licensing restrictions, the Password List is available ONLY from the Cobb County School District network. 

• Electric Library Elementary- Electric Library Elementary provides access to online magazine and newspaper articles, books and transcripts, as well as pictures and maps. The resources provided are appropriate for first through sixth grades. 
• Culture Grams- Cobb County Virtual Library provides comprehensive web subscriptions to Culture Grams Kids. This service provides cultural information on the 50 states as well as countries around the world.
• GALILEO Kids-This initiative by the Board of Regents provides free access to online resources such as SIRS Discoverer, Searchasaurus, Junior Quest, DLG-Digital Library of Georgia, First Gov for Kids, and approved children's websites. 
• Gale Jr. Reference Collection- Gale Jr. reduces the time for random online searching by providing concise information in a manageable format. Databases cover a wide scope of topics. Good source for biographies. 
• Grolier Online Kids Encyclopedia- This comprehensive online encyclopedia provides access to a wealth of resources in a child-friendly manner. Includes extensive multimedia and a tutorial. 
• World Book Online Encyclopedia - This extensive online encyclopedia provides general information, graphics, and animation.
