Beta Club

The National Junior Beta Club
is a nonprofit, leadership-service club. Its purpose is to
provide opportunities for community
service and develop student leadership.
The requirements for membership are good mentality, creditable
achievement, worthy character, and commendable attitude. The scholastic
standards for membership in the Awtrey Junior Beta Club are as follows:
- The student must maintain a 3.5 grade point average during the 6th
and/or 7th grade year with no C's in any area. Students may not receive
any N's or U's in conduct in any subject on their report card.
-The student must be functioning on grade level in math and reading.
The Beta Club is open to all rising 7th and 8th grade students who meet
all the above local and national requirements; if the student meets all
the requirements, he or she will be invited to join.
Upon receipt of dues, he or she will be duly inducted.

Club

The purpose of
FBLA Middle Level Division is to provide, as an integral part of the
instructional program, additional opportunities for students to explore,
encounter, and experience positive leadership skills for their present
lifestyles, as well as their future work.
Student Council

Tuesday at 8:15 am.
The Mission of Student
Council is to promote student
involvement in school activities and to develop student leadership.
Through the Student Council,
all students participate and share responsibilities in the program and
activities of the school. The Student Council meets regularly during the
school year according to the provisions set forth in the Awtrey M.S.
Student Council Constitution. Elections are held in the beginning of the
year to elect representatives and officers.

Multicultural Club

The mission of the Multicultural Club is to help students to learn about
and discuss various cultures.

The FYI Club
Faculty Advisor:

The FYI
CLUB (For Youth Issues)
is inviting any student who wishes to participate to join in! This FUN
club will make students aware of community needs.

Fundraisers and community service
projects.
Fellowship of Christian Students (FCS)
Meetings: Fridays
FCS is a non denominational, student-run organization that
provides Christian fellowship with fun
and encouragement to students.
All students are invited to attend meetings. Contact school office
at 770-975-6615 for more information.
Past or Planned Activities:
Music, special speakers, game day,
and Rally Around the Flag Pole to offer up prayers for the school
administration and community.

Junior National Honor Society

The Junior National Honor Society promotes academic excellence,
leadership and service.

Community Service projects, school events and academic promotion.
Academic Bowl
Faculty Advisor:
The Academic Bowl team strives to increase knowledge in all academic
areas.

Competitions in three (3) different Area Bowls of Atlanta.
Science Club
Faculty Advisors: Mrs.
Stephanie Martin and Ms. Molly Worthy
Meetings: TBA
Science Club's Mission is to
give students an opportunity to complete
in science-related competitions and activities such as Science Olympiad
and Science Fair. Students will meet people in science careers from our
community and the Atlanta area. They will visit various locations in our
area. This is an extra
curricular activity, usually meeting before school, which includes
interested students in grades 6, 7, and 8.

Guest Speakers, Field trips to various local
destinations, Science Olympiad competition,
and Science Fair.
P.O.W.E.R. Club
Faculty Advisors: Ms. Rachel
Hyatt and Mrs. Heather Lavigne
Meetings: First and third
Tuesday after school until 5:30 p.m.
Protecting Our World's
Environmental Rights
The club is open to all students. Its purpose is to increase
environmental awareness.
Past or Planned Activities:
Collection and
recycling of paper, aluminum cans, and plastic bottles.
Beautification of the
campus.
Yearbook Staff
Faculty Advisors: Ms. Lynnea
Smyre and Ms. Beth Johnson
The yearbook staff provides
students with increased knowledge of journalism and allows then to
develop photography skills.
The staff is comprised of students and teacher sponsors.

Broadcasting Crew

The Broadcast Crew
produces the Awtrey Middle School daily news broadcast.
