Mrs. Laura Kelley,
Principal |
|
We’re glad you’ve chosen to visit us on our school website. Let me introduce myself. I am Laura Kelley, Birney’s principal for five years. I have been an educator in Cobb County for 30+ years (but who’s counting!). Additionally I have worked in Georgia State University’s graduate education programs and prior to that, trained teachers across the state in best practices. My undergraduate degree is in special education from UGA (go, Dawgs!), and my graduate degrees are from GSU (no football team yet!). We, at Birney, have high expectations for ALL of our students. Our academic goals are to have ALL of our students meet or exceed state standards in reading, writing, and math. Our staff works closely with an active PTA in involving parents and families in our academic program. With good teamwork, we have met our academic goals for 6 years and have earned state recognition for this accomplishment. Birney has recently been cited by a national analyst group, Standard & Poor, for closing the achievement gap with our economically disadvantaged students. I pledge to you that we will do whatever it takes to have our students succeed. Game on! |

Mrs. Pauline Cutts, Vice-Principal |

Hello! I am so excited to
be part of this wonderful and caring Birney family and am looking
forward to making this the best school year yet! Some of you may know me
because I have been in Cobb County for over 10 years and all of those
years have been in South Cobb schools. For the past 3 years I have been
an administrator at Norton Park Elementary and before that at Sanders
Elementary as an Early Intervention teacher. It will be my privilege to
work with your child or children in Birney’s nurturing and challenging
learning environment where all our students are challenged to do their
best and succeed as they “step up to the standards and beyond”. |
