Title I Distinguished School

On Saturday, Oct 6th, Birney was recognized by the Georgia Department of Education and State School Superintendent at the Celebration of Excellence Banquet for Georgia Title I Distinguished Schools.  Several school and community leaders attended, representing our dedicated, hard-working students, parents, and staff.  In spite of growing student transiency.  Birney's students continue to meet and exceed state standards - the number of students scoring in the "Exceeds Standard" category grew last year by 5% or more.  We are pleased and honored to be one of the schools closing the achievement gap for ALL students.

CRCT Summer School 

Summer school for 3^rd and 5^th grade students will be offered June 4-26 from 8:00am-12:00pm.  Summer school is for students who do not pass the Spring 2008 CRCT.  Birney students will attend Norton Park Elementary School.  There is no cost and transportation is provided.  The CRCT test will be given again at the end of the summer.  Students MUST pass the retake in order to be promoted to the next grade.
