A message from the MealPayPlus Team: In an effort to communicate with you about the progress we are making with our MealpayPlus program, we are pleased to report that the majority of high-priority issues have now been resolved. As part of our commitment to be proactive, we recognize that many of you have experienced difficulties since January 1st with parent payments made via Discover credit card. Along with BankCardServices Worldwide (our new partner), we have been committed to researching the issue, and have determined the challenges are caused by the current configuration of the Discover network. In fact, Discover has indicated through many conversations they recognize extensive changes within their network are necessary for consistent processing, and they have even designed a long-term plan to enact these changes. As part of this plan, Discover is integrating into the Visa/MasterCard network. If we do not take action, the MealpayPlus system will serve as a beta test for this large integration, which has unknown effects on your payment processing. Consequently, we plan to suspend the use of Discover card as a payment option beginning on Friday, February 29th until the network can find resolution to many of their inconsistencies, which may be several months. This suspension will resolve many of the reporting and reconciliation issues you have faced, and will eliminate communication from Discover regarding your merchant account .The good news is that Discover is still a relatively small processing network, and is still not accepted in many locations. Cardholders are accustomed to this, and over 90% of Discover cardholders also have a Visa or MasterCard. The balance will use personal checks if your district has enabled this option. We do want to assure you that we have developed a plan to proactively communicate with parents who use Discover cards for stored or AutoPay payments. We will be notifying Discover card users of the suspension today via email. This communication also includes instructions on how to store another card or account for payments. This initial email will be followed by another email on Wednesday, two days before the official suspension begins. We thank you again for your partnership and cooperation, and welcome your feedback.
