Elementary School began serving the Mableton/Austell community in
1991 as a traditional school with an opening enrollment of 557 students.
Over a period of years, the school’s enrollment doubled in size and
increased to as many as 1293 students resulting in a building expansion
in 1998 with the addition of 17 classrooms and an enlarged cafeteria.
In June 2001, the Cobb County School District BOE recognized that Bryant was the largest high-priority elementary school in its district and sought remedies to address the needs of a low-achieving, at-risk population. The decision was made to pilot a school-within-a-school model to increase student achievement, stabilize the staff, establish a sense of order, and provide increased access of staff, students, parents and the community to the school leadership. Bryant Intermediate School was started in July of 2001 and has a current enrollment of over 450 students. Bryant Intermediate
School (3-5) and Bryant Primary School (Pre-K-2), SACS
(Southern Association of Colleges and Schools) accredited schools, share
the same facility and serve the same community. The two schools have
separate administrators but share some common staff members such as the
front office staff, enrichment staff, physical education staff,
Opportunity Room staff, media staff, custodians and food service staff.
Bryant Primary & Bryant Intermediate Schools also share
the same vision, mission, beliefs and purpose. Our purpose is "To Live,
To Love and To Learn". This is espoused in our daily pledge on the
morning announcements, posted in every classroom, and included in every
school newsletter. |
