Snow


Introduction:

Peter has an exciting day as he plays in the snow making tracks and snow angels.  He experiments with building a snowman and even tries to save a snowball in his pocket.

Task:

Through the activities listed below you will have some fun with wet, white, cold snow.  You will learn some snow facts as you go.  Don't forget to wear your snow boots!

Resources:

Winter Wonderland Puzzle (Activity 1)
Let it Snow (Activities 2 and 3)
Make a Snowflake (Activities 4 and 5)
More Snow Activities (Evalution)

Activities:

1.  Select the "Brrr It's Cold!" Crossword Puzzle Sample.  Print the crossword puzzle and complete it using the picture clues and word bank.
2.  Answer the first and second questions in the Let it Snow quiz.
3.  If you enjoy snow, continue with this activity.  How well did you do?
4.  Follow the directions to make a snowflake.
5.  Describe your snowflake for your classmates.

Evaluation:

Investigate the More Snow Activities web site.  Share what you learned with a friend.

Conclusion:

Just like Peter did in The Snowy Day, we have had a fun time playing in the snow.  Like Peter, we discovered different things about snow and had a busy day.  If you've ever tried to save a snowball in your pocket, let everyone know what happened!
