Life is full of choices...
One of the most important decisions you will make in your life is what career you will pursue. There are literally thousands of careers to choose from.  So where do you start?  How do you know which careers are suitable for you?

The CHS Career Center has a number of resources available to assist  you in your career search.  Career Cruising is a great place to start.  This computer-based career interest assessment records your responses to a number of questions about careers and in turn matches you with a list of occupations that fit your interests.  The program offers further information about your selected occupations including required level of education , salary, and working conditions.

All students are encouraged to complete at least one career assessment in the Career Center by the end of the sophomore year. Your counselor can help you review your results—don’t be afraid to ask for help!

What’s next?
After you have an idea of what type of career you would like to pursue, you need to begin gathering information about schools and/or programs to prepare you for that career.  The Career Center has information on colleges and universities from all 50 states.  Information about the military,  technical schools, and training programs is also available.  Internet access is available to research any college, technical school or other program you might wish to pursue.  It is never too early to research your options and contact schools you are interested in attending in order to begin receiving information from them.

How do I get to use the Career Center?
The Career Center is open with assistance on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8:30 - 3:30.  You need to have a pass from your teacher or counselor to use the Center.  You can also make arrangements with your counselor  to stay after school to use the Center.  If you want to come to the Career Center during your lunch period or minimum day, see Mrs. Addison in the school counseling lobby before school to get a lunch or minimum day pass.
