As explained in the student handbook, courses selected during registration should be considered final.  Books and supplies are ordered and teachers are hired based on student selections.  Students are given the opportunity to select their courses in the spring of each year for the following year.  They are given a copy of their choices for next year prior to the end of the current school year and are allowed the opportunity to request changes at that time.  Students are also allowed to pick up their schedules prior to the start of the school year at a designated time and are allowed the opportunity to request changes again at that time.  Additionally, changes for second semester schedules may be requested via a counselor at any point during first semester up until the deadline established by administration.

Once the semester has started, schedule changes will only be given for the following reasons:

1.  Credit has already been received for the course.

2.  The student must have a different credit in order to graduate.

3.  The student does not have the prerequisite for the course.

4.  The student has failed with the teacher before.

5.  The student has too many academics and no electives or vice versa and needs a more balanced schedule.

On the first day of class, teachers will review the student's schedule and will sign off on the Schedule Review Sheet if the student is placed in the proper class or not.  If a change is not requested by the teacher and the student meets one or more of the above criteria, he/she should pick up a Schedule Change/Request form and return it to the Front Office.  Due to the high volume of schedule changes, these requests must be made in writing on the correct form.  Schedule changes will be made in the order of priority, beginning with academic changes for seniors.

Schedule changes are not possible after the tenth day of the semester.  Withdrawal from a class after the tenth day of the semester will result in a failing grade on the student's permanent record.
