LEAP

Leap is a program for students who are high achievers, but do not qualify for the Target (gifted) program.  In order to qualify for Leap, a student must score in the 90th percentile (or better) on any of the nationally normed subtests listed below.  These are the same tests that are used to qualify students for the Target program, but a higher percentile score is required for Target.

Achievement Test        Total Reading

                   Achievement Test        Total Math

                   Achievement Test        Total Battery

Mental Abilities Test  Nonverbal Component

Mental Abilities Test  Quantitative Component

In order to remain in the program, students must maintain a high level of performance in both the regular classroom and the Leap program.  The focus of this program is to help students develop skills in creative problem solving and logical thinking.  While the primary instructional model for this program is the pullout resource model, there is collaboration with classroom teachers to assist in providing differentiated instruction for the high achieving student.
