2008-2009

It is hard to believe but here we are again ready to start another school year. I hope that this will be a great year for all our students. Our teachers and staff are working hard to prepare for them and make each day count in their academic and personal growth.

We hope you will find a place to serve and share your talents with us at Davis. We have a wonderful Foundation and PTA. They both need volunteers as they dive into another year of service. See the web site for names of people to contact to volunteer.

Your child’s classroom teacher also needs help from you in different ways. Watch for information that comes home asking for that help. Your greatest contribution will be the daily assistance and encouragement you give your child. His/her teacher will share ways for you to do just that throughout the year.

As a county we are moving towards a standards based report card. Kindergarten started with this method of reporting student achievement last year. This year 1^st and 2^nd will follow suite. The teachers have already started thinking and planning for the best methods of communicating this different look at grading as well as figuring out how to best assess our students to show their level of mastery. It will be a change for everyone but a very worthwhile one.
