At the start
of class we spent a good deal of
time discussing political parties
and the role played by caucuses in
Georgia's General Assembly.
Then, we took a few
Notes on Jobs in the General
Assembly.
At the end
of class, students were given a
Bill Outline that they
will be using to write their own
potential law. These "bills"
will be used in a mock General
Assembly.

|
At the start
of class we spent time discussing
the role played by committees in the
General Assembly. We then used
yesterday's
Notes on Jobs in the General
Assembly to complete a
sheet titled,
"Important People in the General
Assembly."
Students
spent the remainder of class
completing the
Bill Outline that was
given out yesterday. At the
end of class, students were given
their progress reports.
|
Students
turned in their signed progress
reports and completed
Bills at the start of
class today. We then discussed
the reapportionment process and why
reapportionment occurs.
Students then answered
Questions on the General Assembly,
which addressed some of the issues
we have not yet discussed in class.
The
remainder of class was spent playing
a game on the process of a bill
becoming a law. Students
attempted to take some
Shuffled Cards and place
them in the proper order for the
state legislative process.

|
At the start
of class, the
Questions on the General Assembly
were graded and then turned in.
Students then repeated the Bill to
Law Game we played yesterday.
Students used their game to take
Bill to Law Notes
on a
Flow Chart.
At the end
of class, we watched School House
Rock.

Students'
Bills were used today in
a mock General Assembly in class.
The activity was designed to make
students more familiar with the
process of legislating in Georgia.
