Students were introduced to Stanley's Cipher today.  The ciphers will be used to make sure that students are accurately recording their "What's Going On in Social Studies" each day.

We then acted out a mock land lottery in class.  Students were given an imaginary name, age, and marital status, and they then had to determine whether or not they would be able to participate in the lottery.

Lastly, students worked on dating Important Events from the Age of Expansion.  These dates will be used to properly sequence the important events on a timeline.

Students continued working on the Important Events from the Age of Expansion worksheet titled today in class.   This assignments was then checked for a grade.

Students then worked alone or in pairs to transfer the events form the worksheet to a Timeline on the Age of Expansion

There were no class activities due to the state writing test.

Today in class, we finished the Timeline on the Age of Expansion.  Students were then given a report of each grade from last grading period to place in their conference folder.

If students finished their timelines early, they were given time to review for tomorrow's quiz.

In class today, we began with a quiz over Georgia's "Age of Expansion."  Following the quiz, students we went over correct answers as a class and students were able ask questions regarding their errors.

We then began going through a PowerPoint on Slavery.  Students took some notes, but class time ended before we covered much of the PowerPoint.
