Today was the last day of the shortened schedule due to conferences.  We began class with the weekly Stanley's Cipher.  Following the cipher, students classes who had yet to see the Video Clip on Slave Tales watched it.  We then began a map and notes on the Compromise of 1850.

We worked as a class today to complete the map and notes on the Compromise of 1850.  Students were then shown a short Video Clip on the Underground Railroad.  Following the video clip, students worked on putting any finishing touches on the Timeline Assignment we had previously worked on.

Students hypothesized about slave ownership in southern states as outlined by a PowerPoint on Slave Ownership

Following the PowerPoint, students were given time to complete the Timeline Assignment if they needed it.

Once the had been turned in, students were given a Worksheet to Review Antebellum Times.  They were able to work with peers to complete the worksheet for the remainder of the class time.

Today in class, students took a short reading test for data towards our school improvement goal.

Following the test, we graded and corrected the Worksheet to Review Antebellum Times that was to be completed for homework last night.

We also had a discussion of the first conflict in the Civil War, Fort Sumter.

Today, class began with a short PowerPoint Discussing Secession.

Following the PowerPoint, students watched a part of the film "Race to Freedom" to better understand slave life and the Underground Railroad.
