Welcome back to Dowell Elementary for the 2007-2008 school year!  It is my privilege to be the principal of this fabulous school.  It is an honor to work with the most dedicated and talented teachers,  and continue the tradition of providing the highest quality of education for all students.

We will continue our focus on Balanced Literacy and Math Problem Solving.  We are in the fourth year as a model school for Learning Focused Schools.  Teachers will also continue the phase-in process for the new state standards curriculum and incorporate more performance-based instruction.

Through parental and community involvement, we can continue to enhance our achievements.  We are fortunate to have many opportunities through the PTA.  Please check out the link to the PTA website and don’t hesitate to ask how you can help!  We look forward to having all parents involved in at least one activity throughout the year.  As our PTA president likes to say, “Imagine how much we can accomplish if everyone commits to just one thing in our organization.”  Thanks in advance for your support.

Thank you to our Partners-In-Education:  Publix at West Cobb Marketplace, Chick-fil-A at Macland Crossing,  Dr. Debby Porter, and Washington Mutual.  They provide ongoing support to enrich the lives of our staff and students.

We have a school wide behavior management plan.  It is based around our four “Dolphin Duties” and includes the following expectations:

Respect for all people and property Time on Task
Safe and Orderly School  High Expectations

Our students follow the four Dolphin Duties in everything they do and their behavior allows them the opportunity to “do well” in their academic achievements.

As we splash into another school year filled with learning and high expectations, I look forward to the growth that all of our students will achieve.  I am excited about working with you and getting to know you and your family.

Sincerely,

Dr. Jami Bice Frost
Principal
