Ever wonder what the difference is between the ECMS PTSA and the ECMS Foundation?
Since both are essential to the well-being of our school, it's important to know what
each one's role is and why supporting both is in our best interests.
The PTA (in our case, PTSA) Mission is three-fold:
- to support and speak on behalf of children and youth in the schools and
before governmental agencies and other organizations that make decisions affecting
children
- to assist parents in developing the skills they need to raise and protect their
children
- to encourage parent and public involvement in the schools of this nation
The PTSA cannot fund big-ticket items at the school; it can help support
programs that reach the children, encourage parental involvement, and promote a better,
safer, healthier learning environment.
The ECMS Foundation's specific purpose is:
- to raise funds and in-kind donations to provide ECMS with extra tools and
resources that federal, state and county funds do not provide
- to enhance the educational environment and experience for both students and
faculty at ECMS
In the three years since its inception, our non-profit, all-volunteer
organization has raised over $30,000 to benefit your students and their school.
These funds have been used for many projects including 300+ books and upgrades for the
Media Center, a new math program, and new sound and recording equipment for the
Performing Arts Department.
We welcome input from students, parents and faculty for continued campus enhancements.
Both the PTSA and Foundation perform vital functions to make ECMS the great school it is.
Find an opportunity to volunteer with the PTSA and please keep the Foundation in mind when planning your
charitable contributions (some corporations participate in Matching Donation programs, find out
if yours does).
Both are fantastic ways to invest in your child's education.
