The WESE contract changes very little from year to year. By reading it before you audition, you are aware of what will be asked and expected of you as a member of the cast or crew. The contract is preceeded by a letter to parents since both parents and students sign the contract.

WESE Parent Letter

Dear Parents,

Your child has been selected to be a member of the 2006 – 2007 WESE Cast & Crew. This position is one of privilege and is much coveted among fifth graders at East Side. While WESE is fun for the students, I have certain expectations of student cast and crew members.

Your child will be part of either Team A or Team B. The teams will rotate throughout the year on approximately a 6 week basis.

  • Cast and crew members should arrive at rehearsals and broadcasts on time and ready to work. If a student knows ahead of time that he/she will be unable to attend practice or a broadcast, he/she should let me know ahead of time, since someone else will need to do his/her job. Cast or crew members who are not at rehearsal will not be a part of the Friday morning broadcast.
  • Each job has different responsibilities. Examples of responsibilities follow.
    • Cast members (those with speaking parts) are expected to take home scripts on Thursday afternoon and practice for the Friday morning show.
    • Cameramen and technicians are expected to set up and check their equipment prior to rehearsals/broadcasts and to handle all WESE equipment with care.
    • Screenwriters and reporters are expected to bring in ideas and do research for future shows.
    • Cast and crew members are expected to behave responsibly at all times and to “pitch in” in ways not necessarily within their job descriptions.
  • Cast and crew members are expected to stay caught up in class. If a student is not performing in class, the teacher and I reserve the right to remove them from WESE after calling the parents.

Being a member of WESE is a privilege. All cast and crew members are expected to behave as role models for younger students at all times.

We work as a team at WESE, and each and every member of the team must carry his/her weight in order for us to be successful. In closing, I would like to say that I am very excited to be working with your child this year!

WESE Contract

I understand that I should arrive at rehearsals and broadcasts on time and ready to work. If I am not at rehearsal, I will not be a part of the Friday morning broadcast.

I understand that I am expected to behave responsibly at all times and to “pitch in” in ways not necessarily within my job description.

I understand that I am expected to learn my lines and/or handle all WESE equipment with care.

I understand that I am expected to stay caught up in class. If I am not performing in class, the teacher and Ms. Alexander reserve the right to remove me from WESE after calling my parents.

I understand that being a member of WESE is a privilege. I know that I am expected to behave as a role model for younger students at all times.

My child and I have read the WESE policy statement concerning responsibilities of WESE Cast & Crew Members and agree to abide by that policy.
