Anthony (Tony) D. Bernard

I am Tony Bernard, your Music Specialist here at Eastvalley. Previously, I was the Choral and General
Music teacher for Pine Mountain Middle School. I hold a Bachelors Degree in Music and Business from
Berry College and the Master of Music Education degree from the State University of West Georgia. In
addition to serving as Eastvalley's Music Specialist, I am the Music Ministries Director for Saint Andrew
United Methodist Church (across the street from Blackwell Elementary School). My goal at Eastvalley is
to make music enjoyable, accessible, and understandable for every member of the Eastvalley family.

Born in Cartersville, Georgia. Married to Lynda Bernard. Two sons, Anthony (1998) and Dominic (2000).

Professional Activities
Mr. Bernard holds professional memberships in the American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers
(ASCAP), Music Educators National Conference (MENC), Georgia Music Educators Association (GMEA), Phi Mu
Alpha Sinfonia professional music fraternity, and the Professional Association of Georgia Educators
(PAGE), and Who's Who in American Universities. He is past Chair of the Cobb County School District Piano
Technician Selection Committee, and also served on the 1998-99 Cobb County School District Music Textbook
Adoption Committee by piloting 6th, 7th, and 8th grade textbooks. Mr. Bernard has prepared and entered
students in the GMEA Solo and Ensemble Festival, District XII Honor Chorus, All-State Chorus, Large Group
Choral Festival, 5th Grade Statewide Honor Chorus, 6th Grade Statewide Honor Chorus and the Spivey Hall
Honor Chorus, as well as other public and private festivals. Mr. Bernard adjudicates for the Georgia High
Schools Association Literary competitions, as well as for talent shows, pageants, and musical events.
Community and Civic Activities
Mr. Bernard's community and civic activities have included presenting free educational programs in
computer use and in piano tuning and repair for other piano technicians and for community groups, singing
in the 1996 Centennial Olympic Games Opening Ceremonies, and performing with the Atlanta Symphony
Orchestra Chorus, the Rome Symphony Orchestra, and the Seed and Feed Marching Abominable Band of Atlanta.
