The Frey guidance department works closely with school staff members and parents to assist students in reaching success. Although the majority of the counselors' time is spent teaching guidance lessons in all classrooms, they also lead small student groups, and help students with individual concerns on a short-term, limited basis.
The guidance department encourages a strong partnership with parents and community outreach programs. Working closely with the Frey PTSA, counselors assist with Community Outreach projects, such as canned food drives and toy collections during the holidays. Annually, the counselors coordinate Red Ribbon Week. During this week, activities focus on making smart choices and saying no to drugs, alcohol, and tobacco.
Frey Counselors also sponsor the Frey student council, which consists of student leaders from each classroom in grades 4-5. Student Council members assist in communicating information to other students regarding school events and represent the student body at various activities. Fifth grade students are responsible for raising and lowering the flags each day.
The Frey guidance department helps to incorporate Character Education within our school. Each week a new character quality is highlighted throughout the school. Please click on the character education link to see a list of our words for the school year.
