Book of the Month for
November 2006

November 1, 2006
Dear Faculty, Students and Parents:
The November Principal’s Book of the Month is From the Mixed-up Files of Mrs.
Basil E. Frankweiler by award-winning author E. L. Konigsburg. This is a
humorous story that relates to all generations.
As Mrs. Konigsburg writes, From the Mixed-up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler
is a story that “captures the importance of finding one’s self and how the
greatest adventure lies not in running away but in looking inside, and the
greatest discovery is not in finding out who made a statue but in finding out
what makes you.” This timeless novel is an excellent conversation piece
for our students and parents.
As you read From the Mixed-up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler think about
experiences that you have had with your sibling or a best friend that created
memories that will last a life time. What are some generational stories
that you will pass along to your children? I hope that you enjoy From the
Mixed-up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler as much as I did.
Happy reading,
Phillip D. Page
