Join
us for "A Night in The Spirit" - a gospel concert and silent auction to
benefit Relay For Life (American Cancer Society) on Saturday, May 3 at 6:00 P.M.
(silent auction starts at 5:30 P.M.) in the Garrett Middle School Auditorium.
Tickets are being sold in the Front Office - $3.00 for students and $10.00 for adults.
Tickets at the door are $5.00 for students and $15.00 for adults. For more

Parents
- a letter from school will be sent home today with all students. A new
program entitled "The Safe Rider Program" will be instituted at Garrett for the
remainder of the year. The program address growing concerns about bus
safety such as student cooperation with drivers and discipline strategies.

The
Garrett Math Team competed in the Georgia Council of Teachers of Mathematics
Middle School State Tournament this past weekend. The team traveled to
Thomson Middle School in Centerville, Georgia where they placed 6th in the
overall competition and received a trophy for placing in the top ten. Two
students also medaled - Johnny Tidmore (11th) and Stephanie Vallejo (13th).
Congrats to all members of the team and their coach, Michael Eber (8th grade

Relay for Life
Faculty/Student Basketball Game - April 4, 2008
Students are raising money for Relay for Life. They are asking family and
friends for donations with a goal of raising $25. The students raising money
will have the opportunity to compete against their teachers in a basketball
game. Please help Garrett in the fight against cancer. Checks should be made
out to Garrett Middle School. All money is due by Thursday, April 3.

Garrett
Middle School presents its third annual Night of the Arts on Friday, February 8,
2008. It will be a spectacular event that features Garrett’s advanced
students performing in orchestra, jazz band, chorus and drama. There will
also be ten pieces of art on display for community conversation. The Night
of the Arts will provide over 300 members of the South Cobb community an
opportunity to see and hear the incredible talent within Garrett Middle School.
The directors for this event will be Ms. Sarah Anderson (Piano), Ms. Susan
Dowling (Art), Ms. Debra Hoffey (Drama), Ms. Kat Johnson (Band), Mr. George
Nicholson (Orchestra), and Ms. Jackie Smiley (Chorus). The Night of the
Arts will be emceed by Mr. John A. Delves, Executive Director and CEO of
Southeastern Training and Development.
The “Black-Tie Optional” evening will begin with a VIP reception at 5:45 PM.
Tickets for the VIP reception are $20.00. The VIP reception will include
heavy hors d’oeuvres prepared by Atlanta’s renowned chef, Brett Eanes of Cuzine
Chefs. The show begins at 7:00 PM with a Meet the Performers reception
immediately following the show. Show tickets are only $5.00. This is
guaranteed to be one of South Cobb’s events of the year.

Congratulations to Garret Middle School's Peace
Poster contest winners. 1st place winner Alexi Aguilar, 2nd place winner
Brittany Evans, 3rd place winner Jamar Fraisar and 4th place winner Jordan
Harton with Dr. Phillip Page and art teacher Susan Dowling were recognized at
the South Cobb International Lion’s Club annual celebration dinner on Monday,
February 4. These exceptional students were honored for displaying their
creative talents and contributing to the community in the South Cobb area.

Conference
Week will be held Tuesday, January 22 through Monday, January 28 at Garrett.
Please note: we will be following the Early Release schedule each day (students
out at 2:15 PM). We are also happy to provide Conference Week tips for
parents online in
Spanish.

Scholastic Book Fair will held each day of Conference Week (Jan. 22 - Jan. 28)
from 8:40 AM to 4:30 PM in the media center. Come and check out the great
books in the fair as well as gift items. Cash or checks made out to
Garrett Middle School will be accepted (no credit cards, please).

In response to the many questions that have arisen regarding Methicillin-Resistant
Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA), Garrett has an information letter to help
educate the public to prevent the spread of this infection.

Garrett Middle School will not be picked up by Cobb County School District

The
state recently announced additional immunization requirements for the 2007-08
school year as follows:
ALL GRADES: Students new to Georgia, which now includes any student who has been
out of the state for the prior 12 months, must meet the new requirements.
Help
A Child Smile will be returning to Garrett on Friday, November 30.
Any children seen previously will be seen again automatically, unless the parent
requests otherwise. These parents are being contacted by HACS.

pleased to invite you to the Hispanic Parent Information night held in
Garrett's Media Center on November 27 from 6:00 - 8:00 P.M. The
topics presented at the meeting will be graduation information, Study Skills,
