NEWS FROM THE SCHOOL NURSE

Welcome to school! This is the start of a wonderful year. Let's review a few things that will help to make it even more successful.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Q: What are the clinic hours?

A:  The clinic hours are Monday - Friday from 8:30-1:30.

Q:  Can you give my child medication if they need it?

A:   I am able to administer medication only if it has been provided by the parent/guardian, and an

Authorization to Administer Medication form has been completed. This includes Neosporin.

Q:  Why does my child have to come home if they red eyes with itching, and possibly drainage or

       Swelling?

A:  A child with those symptoms could possibly have conjunctivitis (pinkeye).  If it is bacterial or

viral it can be highly contagious, and spread quickly to other students, and staff.  I am not

and unable to make a diagnosis.  According to the Cobb County Schools policy we must have

a written note from a physician if it is not or proof of treatment before a child can be

      Readmitted to class.

Please remember to have your child start the day right with breakfast. The best way to jumpstart a healthy mind for learning is with a healthy breakfast. It also helps to deter stomach and headaches.

A great big thank you to all who made contributions to the clinic.  Our clinic is very busy, and we go through supplies quickly.  Please keep us in mind during the year. THANKS!

If you provide snacks for your child's class, please keep in mind some children have peanut and nut allergies when choosing snacks. To be on the safe side, check with your child’s teacher.
