Classroom Guidance
|
With a proactive approach, one of our goals is to reach the entire student body as often as possible. We are able to do this by teaching 30 - 40 minute guidance lessons to each class twice a month.

Support Groups
Individual Counseling
There are times when students may need to see the school counselor on an individual basis. Parents or teachers may refer a student to see us or the student may ask to speak with us directly. The session is kept confidential unless the child discloses that he/she is being hurt, is hurting someone else, or wants to hurt him/herself. Click Here to Find out How Individual Counseling Works.
Bullying Prevention
The bullying prevention committee continues to develop plans that will be implemented gradually. We would like to provide training for our ASP staff this year and continue to offer educational opportunities for our parents. On the back of the individual counseling referral slips, there is a bullying reporting slip. Students may report bullying incidents to the counselors anonymously or with their identification. Students will see another performance that focuses on these issues during the September early release day. As soon as we receive our 2006 survey results, the committee will analyze and interpret the data, and revisit our short-term and long-term goals.

Peer Helpers
We would like to share some information about our 2006-2007 Peer Helping Program. Peer Helpers work with some of our kindergarten, first, and second grade students on areas such as letter/number recognition, reading comprehension, and math facts. They help the younger students once a week for 20 to 30 minutes during the school day. The helpers have to make up any class work they miss. Click Here to Read More About the Peer Helper Program.
- September 8th – Applications are due to Mrs. Briggs or Mrs. Vanderslice
- September 22nd – Notification letters are distributed to applicants
- September 29th – Peer Helper Training
