December to share a Kemp Media Center tradition - a seasonal storytelling session followed
by hot chocolate and candy canes! |

The
Secret of the
Silver Key

Fribble
the Mouse is working hard to solve the mystery of the Silver
Key and our second grade students are working just as hard
learning about the
resources available in the media center! During
December, they will find out how to locate
books and other resources in our media center using our automated catalog
program called Destiny! |

Third Grade |

The
Secret of the Sea Chest

Students
are digging deeper into the
resources available to them in the media center as they try
to solve this Fribble Mouse mystery, The Secrets of the
Sea Chest! During December, they will
continue learning how to find resources using the Dewey
Decimal System of organization and discover the hidden
treasure of non-fiction books! |

Fourth Grade |

Students will create their own Literature Web as they
continue to
explore a variety of genres and authors. They will
read a Newbery Award Book,
informational text, historical fiction, etc. |

Case of the Three-Legged Buffalo

Fourth
Grade students will explore a variety of information
resources as they solve this mystery! This month they
will explore
newspapers and atlases to locate needed information! |

Fifth Grade |
 |
Fifth
Grade students will each produce a
segment for Black History Month in February that will feature a famous African-American
figure. They will complete the background research using a variety of
resources and then compile the information into an interesting and
informative Power Point presentation that will be broadcast on Cougar Cable
News or the Kemp Elementary Electronic Bulletin Board during the month of
February. Students will complete
the research process using books, videos, the Cobb Virtual
Library, and Internet sites. During December, they will begin
preparing their storyboards for their Black History Month
segment. |
