Scranimals

Students will travel to Scranimal Island where animals and plants are scrambled together to create creatures never seen before!  They will then create their own scranimal!
Second Grade

The Secret of the
Silver Key

Second grade students will continue to learn about all of the resources available to them in the media center as they solve this Fribble Mouse mystery!  The year-long activities will include learning about  dictionaries, encyclopedias (both print and electronic), atlases, and other information sources.  During January, they will explore our automation system, Destiny, and the Dewey Decimal System plus use special reference books and the Internet to locate information.

Third Grade

The Secrets of the
Sea Chest

Students will learn about the secret resources available in the media center as they try to solve this Fribble Mouse mystery!  During January, they will explore how-to books and encyclopedias!
Little Cliff and the
Cold Place

Third-grade students will listen to this 2007-2008 Georgia Picture Story Book Nominee bringing the Arctic to Glen Allan, Mississippi!
Fourth Grade
Students will create their own Literature Web as they continue to explore a variety of genres and authors.  They will read a Newbery Award Book, informational text, historical fiction, etc.
The Case of the Three-Legged Buffalo

Fourth Grade students will explore a variety of information resources as they solve this mystery!  This month they will explore atlases and uncover the mysteries of the Dewey Decimal System!
Fifth Grade
Fifth Grade students will each produce a segment for Black History Month in February that will feature a famous African-American figure.  They will complete the background research using a variety of resources and then compile the information into an interesting and informative Power Point presentation that will be broadcast on Cougar Cable News or the Kemp Elementary Electronic Bulletin Board during the month of February.  Students will complete the research process using books, videos, the Cobb Virtual Library, and Internet sites.  During January, they will complete their storyboards and create their Black History Month segment.
