Scarecrow Pete

Scarecrow Pete is not an ordinary scarecrow!  He uses books to travel to new and exciting places.  Students will be introduced to several classic story characters and may even spot Snowman Bob!
Thanksgiving on Plymouth Plantation

Second graders will travel back in time as they become part of the famous feast at Plymouth Plantation in 1621!  They will then compare the present time with the past using a Kidspiration organizer.

The Secret of the

Second grade students will continue to learn about all of the resources available to them in the media center as they solve this Fribble Mouse mystery!  The year-long activities will include learning about  dictionaries, encyclopedias (both print and electronic), atlases, and other information sources.  During November, they will explore atlases and maps along with our automation system, Destiny.

Sea Chest

Students will learn about the secret resources available in the media center as they try to solve this Fribble Mouse mystery!  During November, they will explore dictionaries and work with the Dewey Decimal system.
Getting to Know Ruben Plotnick

Third-grade students will listen to a 2007-2008 Georgia Picture Story Book Nominees about the problems of living with an aging grandparent.
Fourth Grade
Students will create their own Literature Web as they continue to explore a variety of genres and authors.  They will read a Newbery Award Book, informational text, historical fiction, etc.
The Case of the Three-Legged Buffalo

Fourth Grade students will explore a variety of information resources as they solve this mystery!  This month they will use print and online encyclopedias and explore newspapers to locate information!
Fifth Grade
Fifth Grade students will each produce a segment for Black History Month in February that will feature a famous African-American figure.  They will complete the background research using a variety of resources and then compile the information into an interesting and informative Power Point presentation that will be broadcast on Cougar Cable News or the Kemp Elementary Electronic Bulletin Board during the month of February.  Students will complete the research process using books, videos, the Cobb Virtual Library, and Internet sites.  They will then begin preparing their storyboards for their Black History Month segment.
