Georgia Scavenger Hunt Project

Research Process
The Big 6™

Student Directions

Scenario

Your group has been selected to create a Scavenger Hunt for Georgia.  You will preview examples of scavenger hunts, determine the information the hunt should uncover, and design and construct a web-based scavenger hunt.  Good luck!

#1 Task Definition

What needs to be done?

The Task
You will use examples of Georgia scavenger hunts plus other topics to look for ideas.  Planned research activities will help you determine what questions should be included in your scavenger hunt.  Your group will determine the websites and format to use.  Using the information you collected, your group will then create a web-based scavenger hunt that relates to Georgia, Cobb County, or Powder Springs.

The Product
You will create a web-based scavenger hunt.  The final project will be posted on the Georgia Project website.

#2 Information Seeking Strategies

What resources can I use?

Your first activity is to determine what needs to be included in a scavenger hunt for elementary students.
  • As a group, brainstorm what items should be included in a scavenger hunt.  Mark those that are essential with a star.

Next, we will decide what three topics we will use for our scavenger hunts.  Use the following link to review the topics you will be studying in Social Studies:
           Social Studies - 3rd Grade

As group, brainstorm possible topic ideas.  We will vote to determine the three that will be created.  Select your top choice and your second choice.  Groups will be selected by the media specialist.
