Research Process
The Big 6™

Student Directions

Scenario

Your group has been selected to create a Website for all of the Georgia Projects.  You will preview examples of websites, determine the information the site should contain, and design and construct the project website.  Good luck!

#1 Task Definition

What needs to be done?

The Task
You will use examples of Georgia websites plus other topics to look for ideas.  Planned research activities will help you determine what information should be included on your website.  Your group will determine the format and layout to use.  You will be introduced to the web creation software.  Using the information you collected, your group will then create a website that contains links to all of the Georgia Projects created by the other groups.

The Product
You will create a Georgia Project website.  The final project will be posted on the Kemp Elementary website and shared with other third-grade students in Cobb County.

#2 Information Seeking Strategies

What resources can I use?

Your first activity is to determine what needs to be included on the project webpage.  List the eleven other projects that are being created and decide if they can be linked to the project page.
  • Are there other links you would like to include on the page that would add interest or information for other third-graders?  Look at the sample websites in the links below:
Teaching With the Web:  Georgia - Click on the Informational/Research sites.  Select one to share with others in the group.

Next, you will look at the software that will be used to create the website.  Click on here to go to Think.com and then click on the Student "Getting Started" slideshow.  Read each slide carefully to get an overview of the software.
