Kindergarten Notes
Transportation- If you need to change
the mode of transportation your child will be using a certain day, please send
it in writing that morning. If we do
not receive this change in writing, your child will have to go to his/her regular
destination. (Phone calls, faxes, and
emails will not be accepted.)
Medicine- If your child requires medication during
the school day, a medical form must be completed by the student’s parent. The medical form and medicine must be taken
to the office by the child’s parent.
The medicine will be administered from the clinic. Students are not allowed to carry medicine
to school on the bus.
Lunch- Lunches are $1.60 daily. We suggest that you purchase lunches for an
extended length of time rather than sending the money daily. You may purchase lunches for a week, month,
semester, or for the entire year on Monday or Tuesday of each week. There are no lunch charges in the county
this year. If your child brings
lunch from home, s/he may purchase a drink from the school ($.50) or bring one
from home. If you would like to eat
lunch with your child, you are welcome to.
Please send a note in the morning so that we can let the lunchroom know
to plan for extra people. Also, please
remember that there is no fast food or carbonated beverages allowed in the Kemp
cafeteria for children or adults.
After School Program- New ASP charges for this
year are: $10 registration fee, $7/day per child.
Snack- We will have snack time in the
morning. I will be providing snacks the
first week, and then we will begin a rotating snack calendar. Each child will have a week where they will
be providing snack for the class. More
information will be coming home the first week of school along with a snack
calendar for the first month.
Dress- Kindergarten is a very active place! J We recommend tennis shoes
be worn for your child’s safety. School
clothes are recommended rather than dress clothes. Girls may want to wear shorts under dresses.
School Hours- School begins at 7:45
a.m. and ends at 2:15 p.m. Please make
sure that your child arrives on time.
If your child arrives after 7:45, please accompany your child to the
office to sign in. Always go by the
office to pick up your child early or bring your child in late. To avoid interruptions to instruction and
for your child’s safety, you are requested not to go directly to your child’s
classroom. We begin loading buses at
2:15. If you need to pick up your
child early, you must sign him/her out before 2:00.
Attendance- Your child’s school
attendance has a direct impact on their learning. Therefore, it is expected that students arrive on time each day
ready for learning. When students arrive
late or leave early they are missing critical instructional time. Students arriving after 11:00 am, or checked
out before 11:00 am, will be marked absent for the day.
Visitors- Any time you are in the building, please
stop by the office to get a visitor’s pass before proceeding to the
classroom. Without a visitor’s pass on
you will be stopped in the hall and asked to go back to the office. Little siblings are welcome at lunch, but
are not allowed in the classroom or on the playground.
Tuesday Folders- School-wide at Kemp this
year we will be sending home a special folder on Tuesdays. All of your child’s weekly work, class
newsletter, and any papers from the school & PTA will be coming home on
this day. Please return this emptied
folder to school on Wednesday. This
folder is different from your Kindergarten child’s daily communication folder
(in lieu of upper grades’ agendas) that we will be sending back & forth
daily for notes, lunch $, etc.
Communication- I will communicate with
you often. Please be sure to check your
child’s communication folder every night.
If you send any communication/$ to school, please put it in this
folder. Your child will turn their
folder in each morning to be checked.
S/he will be learning to turn in only their folder to be checked for
notes, not their whole backpack.
Any time you send money to school, it needs
to come in an envelope. If it is money
for a school function (field trips, etc.), you will be provided with a white
envelope. If it is for the After School
Program, you will be provided with a goldenrod envelope. Lunch money and PTA money can be sent in
your own envelope. Always remember that
the following 4 things must be on any envelope containing money:
1.
Your
child’s first and last name
2.
Your
child’s grade level
3.
Teacher’s
name
4.
What
the money is for
Please remember that Kindergarteners often
forget what you say things are for and it is much easier for all of us if you
write it all down. Thanks so much!
Supplies- Attached is the recommended supply list
for Kindergarten. Please only send
the supplies on the list. We do not
have room to store pencil boxes, binders, rest mats, etc. We are requesting that each child in our
class bring an additional supply:
** 2 disposable cameras-
If you would be willing to develop the film from the cameras later in the year,
please put your name on the cameras with a sharpie. We will be using the film for the children’s end-of-the-year
memory books.**
Please do not label your child’s
supplies if you have not already done so.
When the children come in the first day of Kindergarten we will be taking
up everyone’s supplies and dispersing them as needed throughout the year. Please discuss this with your child before
the first day of school so that they understand that when we give out supplies,
they may not necessarily get “theirs”.
(Another good reason to only purchase the supplies on the
list…Kindergarteners get very upset when they don’t get that cool set of 24
sparkly crayons they brought instead of the regular box!)
Questions- If you have any questions or need to
contact me for any reason you may send me a note in your child’s communication
folder, call me after school, or send me an email. You can email me from my class web page at: http://www.cobbk12.org/~kemp/staff/kindergarten/webb/webb.htm
by clicking on the “email Ms. Webb” link in
the middle of the page.
I will try to check my school email
first thing in the morning, around lunch, and after school daily. I will always respond as soon as
possible.
