KMHS Mustangs Coaching Staff

 

 

David Reason, Head Coach

- 8th year at Kennesaw Mountain where he started the program in 2000
- Was assistant coach at Harrison High School in 1999-2000
- Head Girls/Asst. Boys swim coach for 5 years at Stone Mountain High School from 1994-1999
- Head swim coach at Cedar Creek Recreation Club in Lilburn, GA; for the last ten years, from 1995 to present
- Asst. Head Coach at Drayton Woods Recreation Club in Tucker, GA; from 1991 to 1997, including the County Championships in 1996
- 3 year letter-winner at Shamrock High School in Decatur, GA, where he set three school records
- Also coaches 9th grade football
- Wife Holly, son Brett, and daughter Reagan

 

Karen Johnson, Asst. Coach

- 5th year at Kennesaw Mountain
- Asst. Head Coach for 8 years at Cedar Creek Recreation Club in Lilburn, GA; from 1999-2002 and 2004 to present
- Three year letter-winner at Brookwood High School in Snellville, GA
- Husband Kyle and daughter Maggie

 

Doug Michalke, Asst. Coach

- 4th year at Kennesaw Mountain
- Head coach at Woodland High School in Bartow County from 2001-2004
- Head coach at McEachern High School in Cobb County from 1994-2001
- Head coach in the Cobb County Summer League at Country Walk from 1996 to present
- Head coach in the Cherokee County Summer League at the Cartersville Cobias from 2002 to present
- Asst. coach for the Cobb Stingrays for 4 years from 1987-1988 and 1993-1994
- Head coach at the Yokosuka (Japan) Naval Base from 1983-1984
- 4 year varsity letter-winner for the U.S. Naval Academy
- 4 year varsity letter-winner at Bethel Park High School in Bethel Park, Pennsylvania where he earned All- American status as a member of the 400 yard freestyle relay team and All-State for four years, winning the State Championship in the 200 IM and 400 free relay
- Wife Marlene, son Eric, daughter Allison, and granddaughter Abbey Lee

Michael Finlay, Asst. Coach

- 2nd year at Kennesaw Mountain
- Former swimmer at KMHS, who set 3 school records; one of which still stands
-Former All-State and All-County performer for the Mustangs
- 3 year letter-winner
- Swam for and coached the Saddlebrook Swim Team in the Cobb County Summer League
- Swam one year at Whittingburg University in Ohio

Tyler Bailey , Asst. Coach

- 1st year at Kennesaw Mountain
- Former swimmer at KMHS, where he set 3 school records.
- 3 year letter-winner
- Was on the first team at KMHS and part of class of 2003 that won the first invitational meet in the history of the program, the 2003 Hoya Invitational
