Programs of Study
Beginning with the class of 2006, all candidates for a technology diploma with a business concentration must have three units in one of the following areas of study:
Accounting--preparation

Course Descriptions
Computer Applications (Grades 9-12) -- Review of the keyboard touch method; basics of word processing, spreadsheets, database, Internet, and multimedia using Microsoft Office 2000
Business Document Processing (Grades 10-12) -- A combination of advanced word processing with emphasis on Microsoft Office User Specialist (MOUS) certification and desktop publishing of publications, presentations, projects and web pages. Prerequisite: High School Keyboarding or Computer Applications
Web Page Design (Grades 10-12) -- Basics for designing web sites including site planning, page layout, and graphic design using HTML, JavaScript, PhotoShop, and FrontPage. Prerequisite: High School Keyboarding or Computer Applications
Digital Media Design and Production (Grades 11-12) -- Advanced web page design enhanced with multimedia applications using Dreamweaver, Fireworks, PaintShop Pro, and Flash. Prerequisite: Web Page Design
Principles of Accounting I (Grades 10-12) -- Basic concepts of accounting cycles for service and merchandising businesses; completion of the first cycle manually with working papers and the second cycle on the computer using Peachtree Accounting.
Principles of Accounting II (Grades 11-12) -- Advanced concepts of accounting principles for partnerships and corporations, using electronic Peachtree Accounting exclusively. Prerequisite: Accounting I
Business Law (Grades 10-12) -- Basic principles of law for everyday transactions as citizens and consumers
International Business (Grades 10-12) -- Business principles and operations in a global market and the cultural differences affecting managerial practices
Banking and Finance (Grades 10-12) -- Understanding of and practice in banking, credit, investment, and insurance for personal and business use
Programming and Systems Management (Grades 10-12) -- Design, development, implementation and maintenance of computer systems and the language syntax of Microsoft Visual Basic. Prerequisite: High School Keyboarding or Computer Applications
AP Computer Science A (Grades 11-12) -- Theory, syntax, and classes of Java, the object-oriented language of the Internet. Prepares students for the AP Computer Science Exam A. Prerequisite: Approval of Computer Science teacher
AP Computer Science AB (Grades 11-12) -- Advanced data structures and classes of Java in preparation for the AP Computer Science Exam AB. Prerequisite: AP Computer Science A and approval of Computer Science teacher
AP Economics (Grades 11-12) -- The micro principles of production, distribution, and use of wealth in a free enterprise system and preparation for the AP Microeconomics Exam. Prerequisite: teacher recommendation
