Club and Organization Information

 

The staff at Kennesaw Mountain believes it is important for students to be involved in clubs and activities at the school. Below is a list of clubs and activities available to students. The next meeting and meeting location will be listed for clubs and organizations below. This list will be updated as frequently as possible, but it is the responsibility of the organization to e-mail Ms. Scott with the updated meeting dates, times and locations.

Some of the clubs and activities have websites that you can access to learn more about the organization. These links are provided to you for your convenience. When you click on one of these links, you leave the Kennesaw Mountain High School website. These sites are not under the control of Kennesaw Mountain High School or the Cobb County School System. Kennesaw Mountain High School is not responsible for the contents of any of these sites.

Leadership Opportunities:

MANE LINK

Advisors: B. Richardson, K. Murray

Mission To build a positive school climate.  Student council is a teaching opportunity involving young people developing commitments to citizenship, scholarship, leadership, human relationships, cultural values, and character.
Activities Plan, organize, manage Homecoming week, Miss Equus, Mustang Ways, Honors (vision quest) program, Honors Day, Special Ed dance, Shop with a Mustang,  Character Education program, and Relay for Life.  These are some of the activities Mane Link oversees to promote a positive school climate. 
Members 26 executive officers, 30 senators, and 150 representatives
Meetings Executive Board every Friday afternoon. Mane Link officers every Monday morning.  All Mane Link members first Monday of each month.  

 

CLASS OF 2008

BETA CLUB
(11 and 12)

Mission The purpose of the National Beta Club shall be to promote the ideals of character, service and leadership among elementary and secondary school students, to reward meritorious achievement and to encourage and assist students in continuing their education after high school.
Activities Service projects are required to maintain in the club.
Members Juniors and seniors are invited to join who have a 3.5 GPA, meet attendance and behavior requirements, and three teacher recommendations

Mission The purpose of the National Beta Club shall be to promote the ideals of character, service and leadership among elementary and secondary school students, to reward meritorious achievement and to encourage and assist students in continuing their education after high school.

Members Freshmen (one semester must be completed) and Sophomores are invited to join who have a 3.5 GPA, meet attendance and behavior requirements, and three teacher recommendations.

HONOR SOCIETY

Mission To promote art education through professional development, service, advancement of knowledge, and leadership.

Members Membership in local chapters is an honor bestowed upon a sophomore, junior, or senior with a cumulative 3.75 GPA.  Student selection for membership is by a Faculty Council and is based on outstanding scholarship, character, leadership, and service. Once selected, members have the responsibility to continue to demonstrate these qualities.

SOCIETY

Mission The purpose of this organization shall be to create enthusiasm for scholarship, to stimulate a desire to render service, to promote leadership, and to develop character in the students of secondary schools.
Activities Service projects are required to maintain membership.
Members 139 Members.  Membership in local chapters is an honor bestowed upon a student. Selection for membership is by a Faculty Council and is based on outstanding scholarship, character, leadership, and service. Once selected, members have the responsibility to continue to demonstrate these qualities.

NATIONAL TECHNICAL
HONOR SOCIETY

Mission To honor student achievement and leadership, promote educational excellence, and enhance career opportunities.  To be the leader in providing recognition for excellence in career and technical education and creating significant occupational opportunities for America's top workforce education students.
Activities Service projects are required to maintain membership.

SPANISH NATIONAL
HONOR SOCIETY

Advisors: L. Newmark

Mission To honor high achieving students in Spanish III and beyond.
Activities Several fundraisers, host cultural days for other departments, After School Program (ASP) lessons for Hayes and Frey Elementary Schools, and dinners at authentic restaurants
Members Students are selected for membership at the completion of Spanish III. To be eligible, a student must have at least an "A-" average (B- honors) for all Spanish courses, at least a 3.5 overall GPA. Yearly dues are $12 per student

Mission Tri M is designed for dedicated music students who show exemplary music performances.
Activities  
Members Active music student in good standing must be nominated by their directors.  A 4.0 in music and a 3.3 or higher in all classes.  Then successfully complete an audition and interview process.

Mission To help build a positive and safe school environment. To provide learning experences relating to security, safety, not just at school but also as members of the community. There is also a commitment to develop character and leadership while developing citizenship and other values desired in the area of Public Safety. 
Activities Provide assistance as Event Staff for school activities. This includes working traffic and crowd control at sporting events. To provide assistance to the staff in relation to security and safety. Assist in planning and implementing Law Enforcement Appreciation Day.
Members Available to anyone interested in Public Safety.

Mission Skills USA is a co-curricular program that provides quality education experiences for students in leadership, teamwork, citizenship and character development. It emphasizes total quality at work: high ethical standards, superior work skills, life-long education, and pride in the dignity of work.

INTERACT

Advisors: S. Barber, K. Bramlett

Mission The program gives young people an opportunity to participate in fun, meaningful service projects while developing leadership skills and meeting new friends.  Interact clubs are a part of the Rotary Club.
Activities Each Interact club must perform at least two service projects a year — one that benefits the school or community and one that furthers international understanding.
