Frequently Asked Questions!

1) Who is this site for?

Anyone! This site is for students, coaches, parents and interested visitors.

2)What can I find on this site?

You can find pictures, technique instruction, nutritional information, and various other weight training information.

3) Is weight training for athletes only?

Absolutely not. Weight training makes a person "athletic" without necessarily making them an "athlete." Now, if you are an athlete then this class is a must! Otherwise, weight training class is a comprehensive class that will help you increase muscular endurance, flexibility, coordination, confidence, speed, agility, cardiovascular endurance, and that's just a few of the potential accomplishments.

4) Is weight training safe?

Absolutely. However, injuries do occur, but the class starts slow by teaching safety and technique. Spotting and correct form are paramount and we take them very serious. Technique, not the amount of weight, is the highest priority.

5) How do we work out?

You are put in a group according to ability. We measure you by a lower body exercise (clean) and an upper body exercise (bench) and put you in two different groups.

6) Why do we do cleans?

The clean (hang clean and power clean) is a total body exercise that uses almost every muscle. It requires coordination, flexibility and triple extension.

7) What is triple extension?

Triple extension is the extension of ankles, knees and hips. Exercises that use ankles, knees, and hips are also called "Olympic-Style" exercises. In unison, those three joints are the strongest in your body!

8) Do we just lift weights?

Absolutely not. Weight training is just the name for a comprehensive class. We also do speed training, plyometrics (jump training), agilities, ab and core work, and cardiovascular training.

9) How do I get this class?

Sign up for this class when you sign up for electives.
