Welcome Graphic Arts, an exciting adventure into the world of design and printing. This class will challenge you to be creative as well as productive. Plan to be trained in the latest technology in the world of printing. You will be asked to become an integral part of this program.
Course Topics
-Graphic Arts I - Introduction to Graphic Arts Technology
-Graphic Arts II, III, & IV - Advanced Tech/Visual Graphics
Level I will be an introduction to the technology involved in the printing industry, which includes desktop design using various software and instruction on graphic equipment.
Level II and on will build on the technology learned in the introduction level and will be applied to various projects for hands-on learning of the equipment and software. Advanced levels will participate in the live work projects designed to enhance our school environment by providing a design and printing service for the various school functions and events.
Attendance
Students are expected to be in class on a consistent basis to receive proper instruction on all levels of training. If an absence is necessary, students will be responsible to make up any missing assignments, according to the rules in the student handbook. My room will also be available after school every day between 3:25 P.M. and 4:00 P.M. for any additional lab time. Workstations
Each student will be assigned a computer workstation in the lab. Please make sure your area is properly maintained because you will be held responsible for your workstation. Report any needed repairs immediately to the teacher. Books will not be issued to students but a classroom set will be available for class activities and daily work. These books may not be checked out for make-up work except through guidance.
Evaluation
Students will be graded in three areas:
- Daily Work (20%) : Book work, Worksheets, Quizzes, Tests
- Projects (50%) : Group & Individual Projects showcasing capabilities.
- Employment Skills (20%) : Class Participation, Work Ethics, Employability Skills
- Final Exam (10%) : Final Test Of SemesterAll daily assignments will be posted on the white board with weekly project sheets. A portfolio of student work will be due at the end of the semester as well as random notebook checks throughout the semester.
