Information about Mr. McGriff

My name is Doug McGriff. I grew up in Cobb County, attending Milford Elementary School, Floyd Jr. High and I graduated from Osborne High Officer McgriffSchool in 1971.

I have attended the following Colleges. Truett-McConnell Jr. College in Cleveland, GA, Kennesaw College and Brenau University in Gainesville, GA, where I received my BS in Criminal Justice.

I have been married for 33 years and have 3 sons, ages 26, 22 and 20.

I was in police work for over 21 years. I have worked for Austell Police, Douglasville Police and I retired in July of 1999, after 17 years from the City of Marietta Police Department in 1999.

During my career, I have operated as a uniform patrol officer on all shifts. I was a supervisor at Marietta, along with two assignments to the Stake Out Unit, which operated in plain clothes. I was also assigned to the department administrative area, in charge of the department's automotive fleet, and assisting with purchasing and evidence control.

At Kennesaw Mountain High School in Kennesaw, GA, I bring my years of experience into the classroom to aid in teaching the Law Enforcement classes.

I started teaching in 1999 and I am still having fun with my new career. I think my students enjoy learning what law enforcement and the criminal justice system are all about.
