Accelerated Reader

Accelerated Reader (AR) is a  popular reading management software program that provides teachers with an easy and effective way to monitor guided reading practice. 

We want to get students excited about books! Accelerated Reader helps you focus attention on careful reading of books, which improves students’ critical-thinking skills and builds an intrinsic love of reading.

How it Works
Students read a book for which our school owns an AR quiz. Then the student takes a quiz based on their reading.  Points accumulate throughout the year and earn various kinds of award and recognition.  Your child may get their picture on the "Wall of Fame".  At 100 points he or she will earn lunch with the Principal.  Each teacher has a budget from the PTA to provide classroom incentives for reading achievement.
