Anne Frank:
Diary of a Young Girl
Why study the holocaust?
The Holocaust is set apart from other historical violent crimes by the fact that the extermination of innocent civilians was the official policy of a legitimate national government. There have been- there exists today- other examples of government policies intended to subjugate particular groups of people. However, no other event in human history carried out a death sentence with such ferocity of purpose.
The Holocaust is being taught because it brings to the forefront the universal theme of good over evil. From the study of the Holocaust, you will understand the dangers of all forms of discrimination, prejudice, and bigotry: hatreds which can lead to the world of evils of genocide and mass murder, and endanger an individual's ethical being.Instructional Objectives
