School counselors are integral to your student's success in high school. Counselors help students organize, plan, and navigate the road to their personal future. The counseling team at McEachern High looks forward to working with parents and teachers every step of the way in the student's attainment of their goals.

Please call us anytime. We look forward to working with you. Calling ahead for appointments will save you valuable time as well as allowing the counselor time to gather the necessary information to answer any questions or concerns.

REGISTRATION FOR 2008-2009 SCHOOL YEAR

Registration Update:
Registration for the 2008-2009 school year will be July 28, 29, 30 and 31. First come first served.
All appointments for July 16, 22 and 24 are booked.
We will also have registration hours the week of August 4, 2008

Please see the school check-list for all forms and documents needed to register at McEachern High School.

Please have all immunizations up-to-date. In March of 2007 the State of Georgia added some new booster shots to the list of required immunizations. The Certificate of Immunization (Form 3231) must be signed by a physician licensed under the laws of Georgia OR by a qualified employee of a county health department. As part of the registration process I will go onto the Georgia Registry of Immunizations Transaction and Services (GRITS) to check if students are approved for school attendance: Your pediatrician is responsible for updating the GRITS system after every inoculation and booster required by the state of all school age children.

Unfortunately, if your student comes up “Incomplete for School Attendance” or you are missing any of the documentation, the registration session will have to be rescheduled. So, please make sure you have ALL documents with you at the time of registration.

IMPORTANT! Even if you are coming from a Cobb County School we will need all the information on the “Student checklist” including discipline reports.

STUDENTS COMING FROM HOME-SCHOOL OR A NON-ACCREDITED SCHOOL & ENTERING 9TH GRADE

The State of Georgia requires that students demonstrate proficiency in reading and mathematics in gateway grades before being promoted to grades four, six, or nine. The Cobb County School District accepts grade placement recommendations from accredited schools; however, the state and district require that a home schooled student or a non-accredited private school student who wants to enroll in grades four, six, and nine must first demonstrate state-mandated proficiency in reading and mathematics (reading only for grade four) with an exam equivalent to the state CRCT exam

The district exams for these students are computer-based and must be taken before a final grade placement can be determined. The exams will be administered only once. Should the test results indicate a problem, your registering Cobb school and the Cobb school your child would have attended the previous year (if different) will review your requested placement.

McEachern will be offering “The Performance Series.” Your student will have to register then take the 2 proficiency test. The test will be offered at 1:00 PM on the following dates: June 19, 26, July 10, 12, and 24. The test will take a minimum of 2 hours.

For appointments please call 770.222.3723. If no one answers, please leave a voicemail message and someone will return your call as quickly as possible.
