Frequently Asked Questions

  What is MIT?
MIT is a technology professional development opportunity created by the Instructional Technology Department of the Cobb County School District.

Why did the Instructional Technology Department create MIT?
Educators across the District expressed a need for an alternative to only PSC approved course - InTech.

Will this course meet the technology requirements for certification?
Yes, completing all five MIT modules will satisfy Georgia's Special Technology Requirement for certification.

What time frame do I have to complete all five MIT modules?
We are no longer bound by the June 2006 deadline. Teachers must satisfy the technology requirement by their next renewal, beginning with teacher renewal in 2006. For example a teacher hired in 2007 has until 2012 to satisfy the requirement.

  Is MIT an online course?
No,  Models for Integrating Technology is not an online course. The course is all face to face.

How many hours is each MIT module?
Each MIT module, 1 - 5, requires 10 hours of face-to-face instruction.

Can I test out of MIT?
Currently, the only test out option for Georgia's Special Technology Requirement is the CEO or Course Exemption Option. The CEO is available to educators through the Kennesaw Educational Technology Center. More information may be found at http://edtech.kennesaw.edu
