In fourth grade students are encouraged to display independence, self-reliance, and motivation as they venture on a journey of discovery. Throughout this journey, students participate in several exciting events that are designed to encourage the growth of these characteristics.

• Checkbooks - Each student has the opportunity to earn "money" for demonstrating good behavior and turning in assignments. Fines (money subtracted from the balance) are given to students demonstrating inappropriate behaviors. Rewards are based on the average checkbook balance.

• The 4-1/2 Week Rewards - Every 4-1/2 weeks students who have achieved a class average balance in their checkbook will be rewarded with a fun activity.

• Chorus - Fourth and fifth grade students are members of the chorus. Practices are after school. Members also compete in county and state competitions.

• Fire Safety Program - Fire Fighters will come to each classroom to inform the students about fire safety and the job of a Fire Fighter.

• Great Artists - The Great Artists program introduces students to famous artists and their work.
