Mission of the
Special Education Department
Our mission is to provide
relevant instruction and specialized
services for students with
disabilities. An effective program
for our students provides a wide
range in rate, timing, and potential
for learning; actively involves each
child in a variety of learning
activities; is based on knowledge of
developmental growth; entails a
systematic approach for teaching
skills across all domains; and is
individualized to provide for
attainment of specific IEP goals and
objectives.
Each child is unique;
therefore, the goals, strengths,
challenges and expectations for each
will be different, and the
methodologies used will be dictated
by the child's learning needs and
accompanying behavioral
manifestations. We nurture, guide,
and motivate our students toward
becoming responsible, caring and
independent human beings.
