Who can attend Oakwood? |
Oakwood accepts students who are at least 16 years of age,
have earned their freshmen year credits, are in good standing with their home
schools, and can provide their own transportation to and from Oakwood.
Call the main office (678-594-8240) for information or an
appointment.
A current transcript with exit exams scores,
A current tracker report, Proof of withdrawal,
A copy of your Social Security Number,
Dental, Hearing and Vision Form 3300Number,
Immunization Form 3231 or 3032.
 | What fees do I have to pay? |
A 50 dollar parking fee per semester and
a 60 dollar book deposit.
 | What about attendance? |
Attendance is mandatory at Oakwood.

 | What kind of a diploma will a student receive from
Oakwood? |
Oakwood offers a curriculum that supports both the college
prep and career ed diplomas. Students completing their high school course
requirements at Oakwood will receive a diploma from their home school.
 | What is the dress code? |
The dress code at Oakwood is the same as at all other Cobb
County high schools.
 | May I smoke at Oakwood? |
Oakwood is a smoke free school. Smoking is not permitted on
the campus or at school functions.
 | Does Oakwood provide any Special Education
Services? |
No. All special educational services are provided at the student's
home school.
 | If I decided to, can I go back to my home
school? |
Yes. Re-enrollment in home schools is allowed during the
start of the home school's semester breaks.
 | Are the teachers at Oakwood certified
and Highly Qualified? |
Yes. Eighty-two percent of the teachers have advanced degrees and have been
teaching an average of 17 years.
 | Is Oakwood accredited? |
Oakwood is a Cobb County public school and is fully
accredited by Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS).

How would I get a progress report on my
child? |
Progress
reports are available four and a
half weeks into each session and at the
end of the nine week grading period. You
may also call guidance for a progress
report.

Are students sent to Oakwood for discipline
problems? |
No! Oakwood is a school of choice. The
decision to come
to Oakwood is voluntarily made by
students
and their parents.

What
about lunch? |
There is a 50 minute lunch break between 2nd
and 3rd
periods.
Students are allowed to leave
school for lunch or they can bring
a lunch to be
eaten in
the student center. There are also
vending machines in the student center.

What
doesn't Oakwood have? |
At Oakwood there are no cafeterias, homerooms, clubs
nor is there bus transportation. Oakwood is unable to offer
a large
menu of elective courses. However, every student
is able to
enroll in the required courses for graduation. |
