Session Dates
Oakwood’s calendar consists of four 45 day
sessions and offers 4 class periods per day. An open campus school has no minimum class day
requirements. Students have the option of attending one or all four
periods (Don't
Forget There Is An Attendance Policy)
and attending all sessions. With this schedule,
students may earn
as few as 2 credits or up to 8 credits per year. The school year at Oakwood
begins and ends on the same date as the other Cobb County schools. The same
holidays are observed. However, teacher workdays are different.

Bell Schedule
Oakwood’s bell schedule is different from most traditional high schools.
Each day has four periods with an open campus lunch break between second and
third periods. About every other Wednesday there is a shorten schedule, referred
to as Common Planning, for teacher collaboration and planning.
Classes start at 8:00 AM and each class meets for 103 minutes except on
Common Planning when classes meet for 70 minutes. There is a 6 minute break
between classes.
