Ann Taylor Love You Forever by Robert Munsch The book that became my favorite almost 15 years ago is Love You Forever written by Robert Munsch and illustrated by Sheila McGraw. It is a lovely story about a young mother who would rock her newborn baby, back and forth, to sleep every night while singing her song to him: I’ll love you forever, I’ll like you for always, As long as I’m living My baby you’ll be.When the boy grows up he moved into his own house and the mother would still come to him, hold him and sing to him. This continued all of his life. She grew older and was very sick. The man came over to her house; held her in his arms, rocked her back and forth, singing: I’ll love you forever, I’ll like you for always, As long as I’m living My Mommy you’ll be.This is the story of how that little boy goes through the stages of childhood and becomes a man. It is also about the enduring nature of parents’ love and how it crosses generations. I have three sons. When my middle son became a teacher at Nash Middle School , which is now Campbell Middle School , he brought home this book and presented it to me. He had purchased it at from a school book fair. I sat down, read it, and wept tears of joy, realizing my future was protected with much love.
