Johnelia Wilkerson Beloved-A Novel by Toni Morrison Toni Morrison wrote several books that acheived high acclaim. ( "The Bluest Eye", " Paradise ", "Song of Solomon", "Sulu", and others.) This novel was set during slavery. Her protrayal of Seth, who was a slave girl, was so poignant and made so real. It was as if I was amid her trials and tribulations. Her daring escape with her children both saddened and encouraged me. For as a result, one was lost and became an ever present "spirit" in the house where Seth and her children lived. The book was named "Beloved" and the antics of her ever present dead child will keep you reading and believing. This book was so widely accepted and it was such a brillant work of fiction that Toni Morrison was the 1993 recipient of the Nobel Prize in literature.
