PRIORITIES FOR STUDENT LEARNING
Palmer students shall demonstrate proficiency in writing.
Rationale:
The Palmer staff recognizes the importance of writing to help
students internalize what they learn. Research shows that, as
students learn to express their thoughts in writing, they become
more adept at making connections and transferring knowledge to
new situations.

assess student writing

all content areas with a focus in areas of identified
student weakness.

Implement a literacy math program for all
sixth and seventh grade students during extended learning
time.
PRIORITIES FOR SCHOOL PERFORMANCE
Palmer students will attend school regularly.
Rationale:
According to the Georgia Department of Education, attendance is
an indicator that plays an important part in whether or not a
student is successful in school. Regular attendance is important
to character building and is necessary in developing proper
habits. Additionally, victims of bullying behaviors were
more likely to report feeling that they don’t belong at
school.
